It is still in the Senate with 2nd reading vote expected this Tuesday, April 28.

Bill C-9 could remove long-standing Criminal Code protections for sincerely held religious beliefs expressed in good faith. This is why thousands of Canadians are still calling senators.  

Here are the highlights and status: the bill had 3 days of debate; Senators noted that they have been receiving calls and emails; Senators are unanimous in recognizing that hate crimes in Canada need to be curbed; Senators are mixed on whether or not C-9 has the right approach; No amendments have been tabled yet; One Senator suggested that the Attorney General consent clause should be removed so that it is easier to prosecute.
