What is Baby Dedication?
Peel Pentecostal Tabernacle practices baby dedications rather than baby baptisms or christenings. We believe that dedication is an expression of the parents' faith, where they present their child to the Lord and commit themselves to do all they can to raise the child to serve God.
The dedication ceremony is not a guarantee of the child's spiritual future or eternal destiny. When the child is older, it is up to them to make a personal commitment to faith in Jesus Christ.
A Biblical Model
Our Biblical model can be found in the example of Hannah dedicating Samuel to the Lord. You can read this in 1 Samuel 1:26-28. A second model is from the life of Jesus in Luke 2:22-40, where Joseph and Mary brought Jesus to the temple to present him to God.
