Upon visiting Athens, Greece
the Apostle Paul was made acutely aware that the people of that city were very
religious (Acts 17:22-23). Therefore he set forth to introduce them to
the true and living God.
Today we find ourselves in a
very Athens-style society where religion prevails. Let me be somewhat
controversial and say that what our society needs now is not religion but
relationship. This is where Christianity excels (truly I don't view
Christianity as a religion) in that it is based upon a personal relationship
between two entities, God (who is knowable) and man. Here is a marvelous truth
from the first coming of Jesus, that He revealed God as 'The Father'.
Religion is cold, impersonal and mystical; relationship is warm, caring and
intimate.
Tired of religion? Me
too! Why not try a relationship with God the Father through faith
in Jesus Christ.
